Barn Restoration
In early 2016, we made the decision to renovate our very dilapidated nineteenth century Dutch barn. Parts of the barn had been in use for over 150 years and it was full of old hay, straw, manure, broken equipment, remnants of the many iterations of farming through the years. We began cleaning out areas, hired Woodford Brothers, who at the time specialized in barn restoration. As we removed the contents of the barn, they did exterior post extensions, with concrete pads and cabled the barn together.
Over the next four years, in our spare time, we continued with clean out. In the summer of 2020, our recently engaged daughter and future son-in-law asked if they could use the barn for their wedding venue. Spurred by this request, renovation was pushed to full gear. With the help of family, friends, neighbors and local contractors, we completed the renovation (a pandemic project to the extreme!!). We have included many pictures of the renovation over the several years. We are so appreciative of the time spent with family and friends, the sense of accomplishment for completion of the project and we look forward to sharing it with you!
